Monitor Meteorological Conditions

Uploaded on 30 August 2017

The GMS SASS hosts a wide range of near-real time meteorological data essential for the analysis of, for instance, agricultural suitability, food security, and environmental and disaster risk.

The GMS SASS is a satellite-based system to track on an near-real time basis the geographic distribution of key agricultural and environmental suitability and risk factors, including precipitation, solar radiation, drought index, soil moisture, surface temperature, vegetation index, inundation (flood) and more. The continuous satellite-based tracking also allows for seasonal and annual comparison to establish trends and identify potential food security and disaster risks. Data are provided as daily, monthly and yearly averages and can be browsed by GMS country.
