Yunnan, China
5 to 7 November 2014
The final review meeting on PRC of Yunnan Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan (YBSAP) was held in Kunming, Yunnan, PRC, from 6-8 November.
More than 30 experts from Yunnan Provincial Government agencies, university and academic institutes, international NGOs and AECOM, a consulting firm, came together to review the Asian Development Bank’s YBSAP project work.
Draft materials for the project were reviewed, including a 5-year action plan to implement YBSAP, a final report, brochures and knowledge products, including the impact of climate change on Yunnan biodiversity, and outputs from capacity building activities. These products will be finalized and submitted to the Yunnan Provincial Government to guide their biodiversity actions.
To build synergy and ensure collaboration between the YBSAP project and the Core Environment Program, representatives from the GMS Environment Operations Center participated in the review meeting as well as earlier project meetings.
As a result, opportunities for CEP collaboration with the project were refined, and will include biodiversity corridor conservation, transboundary conservation cooperation, and biodiversity monitoring. EOC raised awareness among participants about transboundary biodiversity landscape issues, a major focus of CEP’s biodiversity work being carried out in collaboration with the Yunnan Environmental Protection Department (YEPD).
The meeting was organized by YEPD, AECOM and ADB.
