Community restores forest in Mondulkiri
Under the Biodiversity Conservation Corridors (BCC) project in Cambodia, 6,600 tree seedlings were recently planted on 15 hectares of Chong Long community forest in Mondulkiri province.
Pou Treng villagers are leading the reforestation efforts, which will see degraded dry dipterocarp forest restored to help address ecosystem fragmentation in the area, one of the main aims of the BCC project.
Pou Treng is home to about 400 people from the Phnong ethnic minority and is part of Dak Dam commune, one of 22 communes in Modulkiri and Koh Kong involved in the BCC project.
