Hosted by PRC’s Ministry of Environmental Protection, the 18th Annual Meeting of the Working Group on Environment endorsed an 18-month work plan for CEP.
The plan, which runs through to the end of 2013, includes country-level and subregional initiatives under four components:
1) Improved environmental planning systems, methods, and safeguards;
2) Improved management of transboundary biodiversity conservation landscapes and local livelihoods;
3) Development of climate-resilient and low-carbon strategies; and
4) Improved institutions and financing for sustainable environmental management.
The two day event also involved a session on ‘GMS Regional Cooperation: Towards a Green Economy’ and reflections on the Core Environment Program and Biodiversity Conservation Corridors Initiaitive (2006–2011) achievements..
Attendees included WGE and other government agency officials, development partner and INGO representatives as well as Asian Development Bank and Environment Operations Center staff.
